About The Position

The Molding Manager is responsible for leading and supervising Process Technicians in a manufacturing environment, focusing on injection molding processes. This role involves direct interaction with team members for die setting, troubleshooting, and maintaining process control systems. The Molding Manager collaborates closely with the Plant Manager and Process Engineers to manage priorities and ensure operational efficiency while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associates of Science degree in plastics technology, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in plastics technology.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to oversee daily production responsibilities across multiple sites.
  • Excellent communication, team player, and leadership skills.
  • Die-setting and plastics processing experience with the ability to lead and mentor.
  • Experience and understanding of plastic properties and behavior under molding conditions.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating, and supervising a technical operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises Process Technicians in the injection molding department.
  • Works directly with the team on processing, die setting, and troubleshooting.
  • Administers process control systems and procedures.
  • Maintains communication with Plant Manager and Process Engineers to manage campus priorities.
  • Submits work orders for maintenance and tooling items.
  • Coordinates technical training and performs mold tryouts.
  • Attends Leaders Forum and manages SMED and OEE responsibilities.
  • Assists in developing technician performance measurements.
  • Diagnoses machine malfunctions and ensures timely corrective actions.
  • Responsible for technical support of facilities, injection molding machines, robots, and secondary equipment.
  • Works with the team to make improvements supporting corporate goals and objectives.
  • Ensures consistent practices between plants regarding systems, programs, policies, specifications, and standards.
  • Coordinates with maintenance and other departments to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a resource for technical and customer issues within the organization.
  • Supports lean manufacturing initiatives and ensures technical participation.
