About The Position

Effectively perform the functions of setup, operation and process of injection and compression molding machines. Provide supervision, oversight and guidance to the Molding department employees involved in the same to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, safely, on time and in accordance with Rogan and customer specifications.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED with some college or similar coursework in Plastics plus 5 to 10 years of related experience in an injection molding environment.
  • RJG or equivalent scientific molding - preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as reports, correspondence, multi-level instructions, procedures and requirements.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required to add, subtract, multiply, divide, work with fractions, decimals, percents and all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and ratios.
  • Ability to understand limited cause and effect, create instructions, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Basic skills using manufacturing software.
  • Supervisory skills to assign and monitor work that is either closely defined or repetitive in nature.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and coordinate shift activities based on production schedules to meet customer order requirements.
  • Ability to setup and establish process for new injection molds.
  • Install and/or supervise the installation of molds including cooling, robotics, auxiliary equipment and material in accordance with established criteria.
  • Start or supervise the starting of molding machines per established cycles and complete first article approvals.
  • Review work centers for proper equipment operation, setups, and raw materials.
  • Ensure adherence to process standards (cycles, etc.) and efficiencies or submit requests for adjustments.
  • Assist with compiling information for the process information books (PIB).
  • Ensure proper material usage per documentation to minimize scrap and rejects or submit requests for adjustments.
  • Set-up and adjust process and troubleshoot molding issues using scientific methods, as needed, within set guidelines to ensure product quality and standard process efficiencies are maintained.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of daily production, scrap, downtime and efficiencies.
  • Communicate tooling, process, machine, quality, and schedule issues/opportunities with other shift supervisors and associated responsible parties to optimize efficiencies, resource utilization, on time delivery and product quality.
  • Monitor and requisition required materials, supplies, and tools.
  • Remove molds or supervise the removal of molds at the completion of the run and prepare for storage or repair.
  • Clean work area in preparation for the next job.
  • Ensure that the department follows all Quality Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure the safety, order and cleanliness of the department.
  • Report all mold, machine or equipment problems to the proper personnel for review and correction.
  • Take immediate action regarding any unsafe conditions as they arise.
  • Provide operator assistance and training.
  • Perform other duties as required.
