Position Summary: Responsible for the development and optimization of injection molding tooling, fixtures, equipment, etc. and the associated molding processes and methods. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluate new and existing products and develop optimized and robust injection molding processes that meet the defined regulations and requirements of BMI, ISO and FDA. Establish and lead the implementation of new molding processes for existing and new work. Lead continuous improvement projects focused on process optimization and align product specifications with process capability to minimize the cost of poor quality and maximize customer satisfaction. Define, control and audit molding processes to include cycle times to improve overall manufacturing performance, eliminate and/or reduce waste and production costs, improve quality and improve profits. Work with molding department to develop and manage tooling modifications to positively impact machine utilization, efficiency and quality. Partner with design and R&D to develop and validate new molds, core pins and product inserts. Investigate issues, identify areas for improvement and implement modifications of existing molds, core pins and inserts to improve product quality, increase productivity and lower manufacturing costs. Analyze and review rubber molded parts and mold designs to provide feedback for correction of issues and design modifications. Review and control qualification of process changes/documentation to validate effectiveness and make appropriate set-up sheet changes. Perform project management activities as necessary to ensure timely and accurate product and mold launch targets. Keep up to date on injection molding equipment and process technology, including but not limited to materials, presses, and process control. Act as the liaison with external parties on matters relating to the procurement of services and materials for the company’s products as required. Work closely with customers to develop new products and associated molds. Conducts corrective/preventative action investigations to determine root causes of defects, and implementation of actions to correct the defects. Provide technical support to molding department for trouble shooting process issues. Document, investigate and resolve defect and non-conformance issues with root cause related to component or process design. All other duties as assigned.
