About The Position

Summary: Responsible for assisting and directing activities in the Mold PM area that will deliver timely and efficient preventive maintenance and repair of production molds, dies, tools, and fixtures. Mold PM Tech Responsibilities: Perform work within the preventive maintenance program once a mold is finished running or after a certain number of cycles. Wash mold with safety solvent to remove varnish and build-up from the molding process. Replace bent, worn, or broken injector pins. Inspect ejector system for proper alignment. Determine if injector pin holes need re-drilled and bored to a larger size, and the existing pins replaced with over size pins. Worn leader pins, bushings, and all bearing moving surfaces should be checked for wear and replaced/repaired as required. Clean and lubricant moving components in open and closed positions to prevent corrosion and wear. Make adjustments as required. Clean all vents; inspect for depth, width, and land; if necessary, have machined to original specifications. Drain and inspect water lines for blocked flow and leaks; inspect and/or replace 'O' rings, plugs, seals, and gaskets. Cavity surface is to be inspected for wear or erosion of plating or texturing. Clean and polish mold cavity surface as required to the original surface requirements. Inspect mold base for cracks, hardening, and corrosion. Fit, assemble, and tighten all bolts, clamps, and plates to specification. Make repairs to hot runners and nozzles and needed. Work to close tolerances, ensuring quality workmanship on all molds, tools, and fixtures. Maintain consistent and effective component cleaning and storage. Maintain equipment and work tools by performing regular cleaning and light maintenance; adhering to preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; trouble-shooting malfunctions; and notifying management for machine malfunction and/or repairs. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Advanced mechanical, machining, and troubleshooting skills all related to injection molding or wax molding.
  • Must have proficient knowledge on tool assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret most manufacturing and tooling prints.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work overtime when necessary to complete a project.
  • Knowledge in the use and application of precision measuring instruments; including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, comparators, gauge pins, bore gauges, indicators, and various customer gauges.
  • Mathematical: Ability to perform basic math computation; and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
