About The Position

The Mold Setup Technician I position involves essential duties and responsibilities that include spot welding and/or soldering pins onto wire TC's and probes prior to molding, utilizing either a semi-automated or manual welder. The technician will place wire or probe sub-assemblies into a multi cavity mold and over mold the end. Responsibilities also include performing in-process and/or final inspection on completed products for proper function and correct pins in accordance with the given calibration. The technician will measure the finished length of molded probes using a ruler or other suitable measuring device, change guides and calibrations as required, and perform basic setup procedures which include adjusting shot size, fill, overall cycle time, and operating temperature of the molding machine based on the type of resin being used. Additional tasks include purging material using a compound to clean the barrel and screw, placing hardware into a multi cavity mold and over molding to create a connector, wrapping and packaging wire TC's, and practicing good housekeeping and safety procedures while adhering to all company policies. The technician will also start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance parts, ensuring plastic resins are properly dried and maintaining appropriate levels of resin in machines. Routine maintenance on machines and equipment is required, along with verifying dimensions and alignment of molds, changing and installing mold, artwork, injector pins, calibration identification, wire and probe guides, and checking for functionality and performance. The technician will support operators to assure machine and quality performance and complete required paperwork for production and maintenance, while maintaining acceptable levels of production according to established standards.

Requirements

  • 4 years' experience working on production machinery.
  • 1 year of experience operating a production molding machine.
  • Math skills relating to verifying product dimensions and production schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively with co-workers, supervision, and other employees within the organization.
