The Mold Setter is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of plastic injection molds within the manufacturing plant. This role ensures that molds are in optimal working condition to support efficient production operations. The Mold Setter I works under direct supervision and follows established procedures to perform tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 1+ year of experience as a Mold Setter or in a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, setup sheets, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow instructions in a team environment.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy molds and equipment; forklift and crane certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mold setup sheets and required documentation, including mold approvals and insert change traveler forms.
  • Stage molds with all necessary components (cores, water fittings, ejector bars, hoses, clamps) and ensure proper cleaning and storage.
  • Disassemble, assemble, and perform basic maintenance on molds and machines, including leak repairs and replacement of worn components (ejector pins, fittings).
  • Follow all safety guidelines while handling molds and performing maintenance activities.
  • Perform press start-up and shutdown procedures and assist with color changes as needed.
  • Inspect parts for quality compliance, document deviations and corrective actions, support continuous improvement efforts, and assist with training or cross-training team members.
