About The Position

Northern Engraving Corporation is seeking a Mold Set Up Technician to support production operations by installing and preparing molds in molding presses. This position plays a critical role in ensuring molding equipment is properly set up, adjusted, and ready for efficient production. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Schedule: 2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM Employees working this shift are eligible for an applicable shift premium in addition to their base hourly wage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing or machine setup experience is beneficial but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to read and complete shop documentation.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and adjusting production settings.
  • Ability to work under time constraints in a production environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Employees must be able to lift up to approximately 30 pounds occasionally and perform repetitive physical movements associated with machine setup and production support.
  • Must obtain forklift certification if required for the role.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Install molds in production presses according to setup procedures.
  • Prepare and install supporting equipment including clip drivers, hot air guns, clippers, gates, and ovens.
  • Ensure molds and machines are aligned and functioning properly prior to production.
  • Perform adjustments and verify setup specifications to maintain product quality.
  • Use hand tools and mechanical equipment to complete mold installation and setup tasks.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to transport materials and molds when necessary.
  • Read and complete shop documentation and production records.
  • Enter setup time and related production information into computer systems.
  • Measure parts and make necessary adjustments to plastic shot size when required.
  • Work closely with mold operators and production personnel to maintain efficient operations.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
