About The Position

Mohs Technician - Naperville - Dermatology $5,000 Sign On Bonus Included! Position Highlights: Full-Time; 40 hours/week Hours: Monday-Thursday: 6:30am - 6:30pm Fridays: 6:30am - 2:00pm (as scheduled based on clinical need) Hours will fluctuating depending on clinic need and may be staggered to meet the clinic schedule for each week based on caseload Location: Naperville, IL Travel: Travel to Lombard or other Dermatology sites for coverage if needed Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits that include healthcare navigation assistance. Requirements

  • CPR certified
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or Paramedic Program or equivalent gained through experience
  • 2 years of experience with outpatient surgical procedures
  • 2 years documenting in an Electronic Medical Record
  • Knowledge of PC/Keyboard skills and Microsoft office applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge and ability to identify surgical instruments

  • Dermatology Mohs or surgical center preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Physician/Mohs Micrographic Surgeon during Mohs procedures
  • Prepare surgical/consent documents prior to surgery
  • Prepare sterile surgical trays
  • Prepare patient for surgery by cleaning surgical site per protocol
  • Process tissue as directed by Mohs surgeon
  • Ensure documentation is completed for specimen identification, submission and tracking
  • Prepare quality slides for microscopic diagnosis on surgical specimens
  • Assist with maintaining Mohs laboratory
  • Prepare and maintain stock of reagents, standards and control materials for the performance testing at assigned workstations and notify supervisor of shortages or problems
  • Ensure equipment is available and functioning appropriately
  • Ensure all supplies are stocked and available
  • Assist with maintain laboratory standards for inspection, per CLIA regulations by maintaining all protocols and logs as outlined in the Mohs log books
  • Maintain pathology, referral, melanoma, sterilization logs real time to ensure they are accurate and up to date
  • Ensure yearly maintenance of all equipment is completed and documented
  • Log any problems or equipment failures as per Mohs lab manual protocol
  • Prepare patient tissue by grossing and orient tissue accordingly for sectioning on Crytostat
  • Uses Cytostat to cut frozen tissue sections.
  • Stain and arrange specimen slides for Mohs surgeon
  • Sterilize all instruments
  • Assure efficient patient flow through the site
  • Prepares and stocks general exam rooms
  • Escorts patient to exam rooms, obtains accurate vital signs
  • Documents patient's medical history.
  • Provide high quality clinical care
  • Scribe patient notes for physicians
  • Review pre/ post visit instruction with patient
  • Ensure photographs are uploaded to patients' chart
  • Assist with callbacks and returning pharmacy refills
  • Performs patient callbacks as instructed by the Provider.
  • Schedule patient for surgery, consultations, follow-up/wound check, suture removal
