General Statement of Duties: Performs technical duties associated with the preparation of histopathological slides for Mohs surgeon to review. Optum NY/NJ was formed in 2022 by bringing together Riverside Medical Group, CareMount Medical, Crystal Run Healtcare and ProHealth Care. The regional alignment combines resources and services across the care continuum - from preventative medicine to diagnostics to treatment and beyond across New York, New Jersey, and Southern Connecticut. Requirements

  • Associates Degree in related science as approved by accrediting agency
  • NYS Histotechnician License or higher license

  • 1+ years experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs tissue processing, embedding, cutting and slide preparation
  • Capable of performing tissue description, dissection, embedding, and microtomy for optimal diagnostic evaluation of specimens
  • Stains slides manually or by automated staining methods
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems involving methodology, technique, and instrumentation utilization.
  • Monitors environmental conditions in the lab
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Actively supports and assists in implementation and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance policies
