General Statement of Duties: Performs technical duties associated with the preparation of histopathological slides for Mohs surgeon to review. Optum NY/NJ was formed in 2022 by bringing together Riverside Medical Group, CareMount Medical, Crystal Run Healtcare and ProHealth Care. Requirements

Associates Degree in related science as approved by accrediting agency
NYS Histotechnician License or higher license

Responsibilities

Performs tissue processing, embedding, cutting and slide preparation
Capable of performing tissue description, dissection, embedding, and microtomy for optimal diagnostic evaluation of specimens
Stains slides manually or by automated staining methods
Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems involving methodology, technique, and instrumentation utilization.
Monitors environmental conditions in the lab
Maintains patient confidentiality
Actively supports and assists in implementation and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance policies
