About The Position

The MOHS Nurse position at Princeton Dermatology Associates involves providing support in a busy dermatologic surgery practice, primarily focusing on MOHS surgery. The role requires a dedicated and knowledgeable individual who can assist in surgical procedures, maintain patient care standards, and ensure proper documentation and inventory management. The nurse will work mainly at the Princeton office but may also need to cover other locations as required.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience assisting in MOHS Surgery in a busy dermatologic surgery practice.
  • Thorough working knowledge of surgical and aseptic technique.
  • Active RN or LPN license in good standing in the state of New Jersey.
  • BLS and CPR certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in an outpatient Medical Dermatology office setting.
  • Good knowledge and prior work experience with an electronic EMR (preferably E.M.A. by Modernizing Medicine).

Responsibilities

  • Record accurate office visit notes, complications, incidents, and timely documentation of counts.
  • Ensure patient exam rooms are properly cleaned and that appropriate supplies and equipment are available in each room.
  • Prepare instrument trays and supplies in sterile and non-sterile settings.
  • Prepare lidocaine syringes for the session.
  • Escort patients into exam rooms and assist them onto exam tables.
  • Take patient history, including vital signs when necessary, and make complete and accurate chart notes in EHR.
  • Provide assistance to the physician during MOHS surgeries, as requested within your scope of license.
  • Assist with the application of all dressings.
  • Prepare and record all biopsies/cultures to labs upon diagnosis, document in log, advise physician and patient if noted by physician.
  • Prepare and record medications and samples dispensed, prescriptions prepared, and patient educational information disseminated to the patient.
  • Notate in chart notes.
  • Report to the lead or clinical supervisor any equipment failure, parts found or broken, breaks in technique, incidents, or other unusual occurrences.
  • Perform direct terminal cleaning activities at the end of the day.
  • Return telephone calls to patients and make appropriate documentation in the patient chart.
  • Respond to pharmacy telephone calls and faxes relating to patient medications and make appropriate documentation in the patient chart.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and medications.
  • Attend any office meetings requested by the clinical supervisor.
  • Maintain patient literature for all procedures performed.
  • Be flexible to cover offices/hours when other clinical personnel are out, in all of our four locations.
