About The Position

Rapid City Medical Center is currently looking for a MOHS Laboratory Technician to join our dermatology team. This person will be responsible for Moh's laboratory operations and assisting in daily tasks. EDUCATION: High school diploma; HT Certification preferred but not required Lab assistant knowledge, skills and abilities preferred not required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Performs laboratory functions including specimen grossing, processing, cutting, staining and cover slipping. • Ensured quality control in collection of specimens, and in ensuring specimen integrity and slide quality. • Maintains equipment and supplies as needed. • Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control. • Performs other duties as assigned. ABILITIES: • Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision making and discretion in reporting/distributing results. • Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff. • Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily laboratory setting. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, noise. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including long periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping. Must be able to lift/carry/push 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination. Occasional stress from workload. This description is intended to provide only basic guidelines for meeting job requirements.
