About The Position

The DFPC Firefighter (Temporary Aide) Module Crewmember (Fuels) position is a temporary role focused on wildland fire management and firefighting duties. The role involves working as part of a Fuels Module to engage in fire suppression, fuels management, and related services, primarily during the months of March to November. This position requires physical endurance and the ability to work in challenging outdoor conditions, contributing to the safety and preparedness of Colorado's communities.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
• Qualification to NWCG standards as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2).
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and travel extensively throughout the state in various weather conditions.
• Must maintain an Arduous Fitness Level rating throughout the employment period.

Nice To Haves

• Previous wildland fire, fire service, or related experience.
• NWCG wildfire qualifications of Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or higher.
• Medical certifications such as Wilderness First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician.
• Demonstrated commitment to public service and community involvement.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a firefighting and fuels management resource assigned to a Fuels Module.
• Engage in fire suppression and mitigation projects, including prescribed fire and hazardous fuel reduction.
• Assist with training programs, qualification, and dispatching systems.
• Implement mitigation, fuels treatment, and resource management projects.
• Construct firelines and perform ignition operations as assigned.
• Conduct mop up and patrol operations during fire incidents.
• Maintain and repair tools and equipment used in firefighting.
• Participate in physical conditioning activities for up to one hour each day.
• Assist with logistics and instruction of various courses and community outreach events.

Benefits

• Paid sick leave accruing one hour for every thirty hours worked (capped at 48 hours).
