Modeling and Simulation Network Engineer Twentynine Palms, CA The Modeling & Simulation Network Engineer reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Modeling and Simulation Officer, Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Task Order Manager. The Modeling & Simulation Network Engineer will perform the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical network and management support to the Battle Simulation Center (BSC). Implement network and network integration solutions in compliance with the RMF, NIST, DoD, and Marine Corps policies and standards to establish or sustain Authorization To Operate (ATO) for information systems and networks. Maintain the network infrastructure and security (e.g., firewalls, access control lists, etc.) between multiple networks or enclaves of various Mission Assurance Categories (MAC) and classification levels to enable the controlled interconnection of training systems, experimental systems, domain services or coalition partners with BSC networks. Monitor logs for firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Install, configure, optimize, maintain, and operate network firewalls, intrusion Detection Systems, routers, and switches ensuring they comply with security policy, procedures and technical requirements. Develop and implement access control lists on routers, firewalls, and other network devices. Install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating systems software and hardware to include system backups. Implement Change Management Procedures in conjunction with the Sys Admin and ISSE. Perform IT related customer support functions including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and customer assistance in response to customer requirements. Monitor and compile network security, audit, and network connectivity logs for the ISSE. Provide, as requested, by the ISSE network and security reports. Provide status updates (upon request) to the Government representative for all network infrastructure devices, IOS updates, security vulnerabilities, and corrective actions taken. Review vulnerability and compliance scanning of all BSC networks and services through the use of current DoD Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) or other government-provided solutions. Ensures anonymity is denied to the maximum extent possible. Maintain and track IT assets, ensuring systems are securely managed, regardless of location, across the network infrastructure for improved defense against the latest vulnerabilities. Assess and manage risks associated with network infrastructure resources. Evaluates threats, risks, and vulnerabilities and develops countermeasures to ensure continued network operation in the event of an IT service disruption. Provide instruction and on-the-job training to other team members. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
