Torch Technologies is seeking a Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Engineer 4 to provide Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A). The position requires an individual possessing a wide range of skills and demonstrated experience in MS&A in support of military strategies, plans, operations, assessments, and Department of War (DoW) objectives. In this role, you will identify technology to model space warfighting capabilities within models/tools currently available, and identify applications, application programming interfaces (APIs), and/or M&S tools to accommodate the inclusion of space warfighting capabilities within the Digital Engineering Ecosystem of the future. This position specifically emphasizes modeling and simulation expertise for radar and satellite systems, with particular value placed on system of systems expertise related to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) experience. The role requires deep understanding of distributed M&S architectures and associated complexities related to time management, truth scene generation, and complex system-of-systems interactions.

  • Provide requirements recommendations for future updates to analytical models, methods, and M&S tools, with specific focus on radar and satellite system modeling
  • Augment tool requirement development through mission research and analysis and produce COAs for developing new analytical models and tools
  • Capture requirements for existing MS&A tools like AFRL's AFSIM, or SDMC's EADSIM to add space effects and radar/satellite capabilities
  • Develop and implement distributed M&S frameworks addressing time synchronization, truth scene generation, and multi-system integration challenges
  • Develop a plan to refine prototype modeling applications including relevant understanding of graphical user interfaces to refine data requirements, employment procedures, and usability for end-user
  • Coordinate with others to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify management objectives
  • Create analytical models and simulations for complex radar and satellite systems
  • Analyze space system operational, technical, programmatic, and acquisition inputs and formulate recommendations for senior leader consideration
  • Brief and interact with senior-level officers (i.e., GO/FLAG) and senior civilians
  • Lead requirements development and documentation for distributed M&S architectures
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, modeling and simulation, operations research, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related STEM field (master's degree highly preferred)
  • 8+ years system design experience, including hardware/software integration
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: Modeling and simulation development and implementation Radar systems analysis and simulation Satellite systems modeling and operations
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required
  • Proven experience in M&S requirements development and technical documentation
  • Expert-level understanding of distributed M&S architectures including: Time management and synchronization protocols Truth scene generation and management Complex system-of-systems interactions and integration
  • Understanding of military space operations (Space Domain Awareness (SDA); Command & Control (C2); Satellite Communications (SATCOM); Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT); Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR); Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR); Missile Warning (MW); Offensive Space Control (OSC) and Defensive Space Control (DSC); and Missile Defense (MD); etc.)
  • Proficiency in programming languages or statistical packages: R, Python, MATLAB, SAS, JAVA, JMP, Excel VBA, STORM, SEAS, Power BI, Tableau, Qlick, SPSS, PSPP, and SymPy
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise on analytic tool characterization, development and assessment
  • Strong quantitative and analytic abilities to integrate and analyze data
  • Knowledge of modeling and analysis using mathematical/quantitative methods
  • Expertise using the Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially when communicating technical information to audiences with varying backgrounds
