Raytheon’s Mission Applied Science & Technology (MAST) directorate is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer II to join our Factory and Data Solutions team. The MAST directorate is an energetic multi-disciplinary team of over 60 engineers working collaboratively with internal and external customers to develop novel solutions for data science and emerging technology applications. Our team pushes the boundaries of innovation and creativity to establish next-generation mission solutions from system-level up to campaign level. We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer II with a primary focus on developing a web-based application in Python for simulation, modeling, and analysis of factory production models. Other potential project focus areas include software development for mission management, command and control systems, AIML applications, or Live Virtual Constructive simulation environments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing and developing software solutions to enable data-driven decision-making, such as trade-off analyses. This role requires collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team that is distributed across time zones. You must have the ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines working within an Agile development environment. This position is remote. Employees working remote will work primarily offsite with travel to site location as needed.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Python scripting language
  • Experience in one or more of the following Python libraries and software packages for backend and frontend development: NumPy, Pandas, SimPy, Panel, Bokeh, Pydot, PyQt, Plotly Dash, HoloViz, Graphviz, etc.
  • Experience with one or more of the following code hosting and version control tools: Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Experience in software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, unit, and system testing, etc.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automated testing using PyTest
  • Experience with statistics, statistical modeling (e.g., logistic regression, Bayesian models, etc.), and/or data distribution fitting (e.g., normal, lognormal, Weibull, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Simulation Modeling and Analysis, including Discrete Event Simulation
  • Experience working with a team distributed across multiple time zones.
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum software development methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to define, design, and implement new features for a Python based web-application
  • Produce documentation related to software artifacts across the lifecycle including design documents, test procedures, and developer notes
  • Participate in code reviews and support adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Maintain and optimize existing code base for performance and efficiency
  • Regularly report progress and status to leadership within an Agile team
