Kairos Power is offering exciting opportunities for students to join various teams for Summer 2026. Internship experience will focus on building the tools, infrastructures, and analysis methods for the safety case of the Hermes Reactor and KP-X. Contributions from each team is instrumental to Kairos Power's mission on delivering an innovative technology that will impact climate change. Areas with potential internship opportunities include Core Design, Thermal and Safety Methods, Fuel Performance, Source Term Modeling Development, Structural Materials Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamic Methods and Analysis, Nuclear Critical/Safety Analysis, Licensing Engineering, and Overall Analysis support.

  • Contribute to the design, development, and testing of tools, infrastructures, and methods crucial for the safety and performance analysis of the Hermes Reactor and KP-X
  • Perform data analysis and modeling tasks related to your focus area, such as radiation transport, thermal hydraulics, structural analysis, or computational fluid dynamics
  • Assist in research projects, exploring innovative solutions to enhance reactor safety, performance, and efficiency
  • Support validation of models through comparison with experimental or reference data to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Work closely with engineers, scientists, and other team members to solve complex engineering problems and achieve project milestones
  • Document your work, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the team to support decision-making and knowledge transfer
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety, ensuring that all work meets regulatory and company standards
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Current student enrolled and pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering Science, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in relevant technical areas, including data analysis, computational modeling, and engineering software
  • Familiarity with coding and simulation tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or specialized software) is a plus
  • Exposure to physics-based modeling (e.g., neutronics, thermal hydraulics, structural mechanics, CFD) through coursework or research
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Self-starter, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
