About The Position

The Model Maker uses prints, drawings, specifications, or other means to create a model to a customer specification.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in an automotive company making models.
• Must be able to read blueprints and interpret engineering drawings.
• A high school diploma is required; or a certificate from an accredited technical or industrial trade school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Constructing, assembling, or modifying parts, models, molds, and fixtures using manual and power tools.
• Expertise in selecting and working with various materials, including plastics, metals, and composites.
• Align, fit, and join parts using bolts and screws or by welding or gluing.
• Cut, shape, and form parts using lathes, power saws, snips, power brakes and shears, files, and mallets.
• Drill, countersink, and ream holes in parts and assemblies for bolts, screws, and other fasteners, using power tools.
• Grind, file, and sand parts to finished dimensions.
• Inspect and test products to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments or circuit testers.
• Also includes Inspecting finished models for accuracy, troubleshooting, and testing functionality.
• Lay out and mark reference points and dimensions on materials, using measuring instruments and drawing or scribing tools.
• Other duties as assigned
