About The Position

The Model Coach plays a critical role in supporting the implementation of the Missouri Youth Services Institute (MYSI) / Rising Ground Approach (RGA) across all program sites. This hands-on position involves working directly with staff and youth in residential settings to reinforce training, model therapeutic techniques, and ensure fidelity to the Missouri / Rising Ground Approach. The Coach supports staff development, assists and coaches in the facilitation of group processes, and contributes to creating a safe and therapeutic environment for youth.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required, BA/BS/BSW degree preferred.
  • 3-5 Years of management experience working directly with court-related youth in a residential setting.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to maintain required documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of ACS mandates and policies
  • Strong knowledge of court-related youth population
  • Strong knowledge of residential operations
  • Knowledge and understanding of individual and group behavior.
  • Understanding of child development and family systems.
  • Must be able to pass the required Safe Crisis Management (SCM) instructor training.
  • Experience working in youth residential programs or therapeutic settings.
  • Strong understanding of the MYSI Approach and group process techniques.
  • Ability to coach, train, and support staff in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel between program sites and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time coaching in facilities and school settings to Program Staff and Support Services Staff including but not limited to Leadership, Youth Counselors, and support staff.
  • Offer immediate feedback, guidance, and demonstrations of group process techniques.
  • Participate in team meetings and assist staff with on-the-job concerns.
  • Conduct coaching sessions across program sites based on leadership direction and program needs.
  • Attend and contribute to Group Meetings, Staff Meetings, Senior Team and Admin Meetings and other relevant program meetings.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support their development and implementation of the MYSI/ Rising Ground Approach.
  • Assist in developing and implementing forms for meeting minutes, daily schedules, staff input, and logs.
  • Assist in maintaining monthly site reports assessing progress in implementing the MYSI/ Rising Ground Pillars.
  • Utilize the Quick View Report (QSR) in assessing developmental stage of the program required by ACS to quantify developmental progress.
  • Engage in the training of all staff and be familiar with all MYSI training modules.
  • Provide formal and informal training as needed.
  • Support MYSI Supervisor and Training Department training plans and monitor progress.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating Group Leader Forums to support in skill-building, support, fostering autonomy and effective leadership of Group Supervisors
  • Provide feedback on staff roles and boundaries during youth interactions.
  • Maintain regular communication with Program Managers and Group Leaders.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on activities, challenges, and action plans.
  • Be available for virtual and in person meetings, emails, and calls as needed.
  • Support leadership in planning and implementing MYSI strategies.
  • Welcome additional goals and assignments from leadership to enhance program success.
