Inside the Role The Vehicle Control & Upfit team is responsible for the development and integration of Body Controller ECUs and Body Builder/ TEM Interface ECUs. These components interact with many features in the vehicle from Ignition and power management, safety interlocks, lighting, and switches to drivetrain and Vocational Applications. We work daily in a global team with MBT, FUSO, Daimler Buses and other Daimler Truck business units. Our engineering team drives innovation by developing cutting-edge software and hardware for next generation trucks. We are seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer to join our team in Portland, OR, USA, and be part of our group for Model-Based SW Development. This role will be involved in the full scope of feature development, starting with concept discussions with feature and component owners, to communication design, SW logic design and implementation, to supporting test case creation and functional validation, ranging from SW-in-the-loop over ECU test benches to on-vehicle testing. We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 – $121,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. What You Drive At DTNA Conceptualize, plan, implement and maintain Model-Based Application Software for automotive ECUs used for Body Controls and Vocational Features using a Matlab/Targetlink tool chain Perform network communication design, SW model development and code generation in alignment with global development team Work with Feature Owners, Product Strategy, and Component Owners to review and align requests for new implementation and feature updates Support Feature Owners in troubleshooting and issue resolution Support component owners in continuous improvement activities for XMC and ASAM Support Component and Feature Validation with troubleshooting and analysis on test benches, test vehicles, and MiL/SiL environments Support Testing Responsible in creation and validation of automated test casesCollaborate with global development teams at MB Trucks, FUSO, and DTICI in feature planning, specification, and implementation Interface with suppliers to support deliveries and troubleshooting Provide transparency of project milestones, technical status, and issue resolution Knowledge You Should Bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Software Engineering, or similar 2-4 years of related work experience Experience with working in global organizations with diverse locations, working cultures, and time zones Embedded System Development experience and software design Experience with SW Modeling using Matlab/Simulink, XDIS, Git Experience in using Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe) for troubleshooting Utilizing DOORS NG for requirements management Basic knowledge of input/output circuits and signal conditioning for automotive sensors/ actuators Experience in utilizing scrum and agile SW development methods Working knowledge in automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) Ability to document technical concepts (e.g., requirements specs, test reports) for diverse stakeholders and analytical skills to address complex technical challenges Exceptional Candidates Might Have Masters Degree Experience with Daimler Truck Model-Based SW Development tools and methods, and with AUTOSAR ECUs Extensive experience with Matlab, Simulink/Targetlink, TPT, XDIS, Git, DOORS NG Where We Work This position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location(s)- Portland, OR US.
