About The Position

This position does require training and program support experience for the elderly or individualities with disabilities Under the guidance of the Mobility Support Service Program Manager, assists with coordinating and monitoring the various functions of the Travel Training and the Mobility Eligibility Certification Programs. Provides quality assurance inspections and on-site evaluations of the Eligibility Assessment Contractor to ensure ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and contractual compliance. The Program Specialist is responsible for the coordination of the Authority’s Travel Training program initiatives. These initiatives include developing and delivering in-person travel instructions through external stakeholders, such as, the Senior Travel Ambassadors, Special Needs Instructors within the public schools, and the Center for the Visually Impaired, etc. Provides support in planning and overseeing special projects, ensuring that projects are clearly defined, and implemented within scope, remain on schedule, and within the defined budgets. INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.

Requirements

  • This position does require training and program support experience for the elderly or individualities with disabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, or a Health-Related discipline required.
  • Six years of experience providing training or other support programs for the elderly or individuals with disabilities are required.
  • Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is required.
  • Excellent verbal, organizational and task management skills are required.
  • Must use personal computer and associated software at an intermediate level.
  • Directly related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in-lieu of educational requirement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ADA transportation requirements is desirable.
  • Knowledge of developing, modifying, and implementing travel instruction plans is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with coordinating and monitoring the various functions of the Travel Training and the Mobility Eligibility Certification Programs. Assist with identifying, developing, and implementing solutions to improve the eligibility certification process.
  • Maintains and updates policies and standard operating procedures for the ADA Paratransit Eligibility Certification process and Travel Training program. Prepares and reviews weekly and monthly reports, and documents performance metrics and administrative activities of the Eligibility and Travel Training Programs.
  • Communicates and promotes travel-training and information on Mobility and fixed route programs through program coordination of on-site facility, program tours, outreach initiatives with community stakeholder groups, community, government services and advocacy organizations.
  • Develops and conducts workshops for community, government services and representatives of advocacy organizations.
  • Provides primary oversight of the Authority’s Travel Training Initiatives and the implementation of Feeder Services where applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
