South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) is a human services organization dedicated to mobilizing community resources and implementing sustainable programs that compassionately help our neighbors meet basic needs, achieve self-sufficiency, and build community. We provide direct assistance (food, clothing, and utility assistance) as well as a variety of programs including service coordination, children and youth programs, and the South Hills Family Center. Job Summary: SHIM aims to adapt programs to better serve the South Hills community. SHIM has adopted a nationally developed and evaluated Mobility Mentoring® framework, developed by Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath). Mobility Mentoring is an evidence-based educational, economic mobility coaching approach that seeks to increase participants’ intrinsic motivation to improve their economic status and educational attainment. Mobility Mentoring is based on the science of what it takes to problem solve and plan when you are living with trauma and stress. The one-on-one relationship between participants and their coaches is based on what research—and common sense—tells us about what people need to get ahead in life: Sound advice from a trusted mentor. Support to set and achieve goals for all the important parts of life—from health and career, to family, finances, and education. Recognition for success. The Mobility Mentoring Coach is a full-time, direct-service position that provides one-on-one coaching and support to program participants.
