About The Position

Shift: Second Shift (United States of America) Mobility Aide-Neurology Med/Surg Position Highlights: This 48-bed med-surg unit cares for medical surgical patients and offers the most advanced neurovascular care to complex patients. While 6NSU is a med-surg unit, it has a complexity that sets it apart from other med-surg units. Its specialized patient population includes those with stroke, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors and other neurological conditions. Nurses receive extra neurology training and additional certifications, such as National Institute of Health Stroke Scale certification, or NIHSS, and gain experience with complex interventions such as lumbar drains. Nebraska Medicine is the region’s only Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center and has the highest level of accreditation in the area for epilepsy treatment Shift Details : Flexible schedules available Full-time, Part-time, Weekends Included Days and Evenings Perform basic patient care functions that assist with individualized patient mobility activities as directed by licensed nurse, physical therapist, and/or occupational therapist personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Completion of certified nursing assistant program or restorative program or experience in direct patient care required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of use of patient care equipment/supplies preferred.
  • Appropriate knowledge of good body mechanics preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment preferred.
  • Ability to manage and interact with patients and families of all age groups preferred.
  • Ability to deal with difficult or challenging customer interactions and escalate to management as appropriate preferred.
