GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The Mobile Trailer Technician II is expected to have mastered all applications of Preventative Maintenance and to perform basic and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements with limited supervision on Class 7 and 8 trailers. Additionally, will perform basic diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose trailer system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trailers
  • Carpentry fabrication and welding
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
  • Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
  • Maintain perfect safety record
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational and/or Welding certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.
  • Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Examine trailers to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).
  • Diagnoses, repairs, builds and rebuilds all parts of trailer equipment
  • Provide customers with preventative maintenance solution, whenever appropriate.
  • Maintain 80% productivity
  • Prevent comebacks
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of trailers and equipment.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as lubrications and component replacements.
  • Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).
  • Test components using proper equipment to ensure proper operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.
  • Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.
  • File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.
  • Practice safe driving.
