About The Position

Great Western Trailer (GWT) is immediately hiring a full-time Mobile Technician at our Dearborn, MI facility. As a Mobile Technician, you will perform maintenance and repairs on semi-trailers using a mobile service truck, traveling to customer sites to deliver high-quality service and support. Requirements

  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (no recent DUIs).
  • Valid CDL license and DOT medical card.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Own a personal set of hand tools (except in California).
  • Broad knowledge of semi-trailer equipment, tools, and systems.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and welding equipment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in semi-trailer repairs.
  • ASE or other industry-recognized certifications (welding certification a plus).
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect & Repair: Perform maintenance and repairs on air brake systems, electrical systems, and trailer components.
  • Inspect and repair trailer bodies, chassis, doors, floors, and more.
  • Handle minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies, including lift gates.
  • Conduct welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed.
  • Install & Replace: Install add-on components such as toolboxes, ramp kits, dunnage racks, and winches.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
  • Quality Checks & Reporting: Prepare service reports and documentation.
  • Examine work for defects and ensure high-quality repairs.
  • Follow troubleshooting procedures and communicate concerns or needs.
  • Safety First: Follow all safety standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment.
