About The Position

Mobile Technician II - Kearny Mesa Ford Non-exempt Job Summary: Mobile Technician II is responsible for performing automotive repairs and service in accordance with store and factory standards. This individual utilizes their skills to diagnose and resolve the different sources of automotive problems swiftly and accurately. The Mobile Technician II works with all service personnel and management to ensure the satisfaction of our customers. Essential Functions: Perform work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards. Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform work specified on the repair order efficiently and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards. Perform maintenance, minor repairs, and vehicle recalls and complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements. Road-test vehicles to ensure quality of repair work and ensure that customer's vehicles are returned to them as clean as they were prior to being serviced. Accurately record time spent on repairs utilizing company time clocking procedures. Document work performed and test procedures/results on paper-based repair orders. Responsible for providing and maintaining an inventory of standard mechanic tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels, and punches, as well as other tools necessary for the technician's work; ensure "special tools" are returned to their proper place. Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner. Maintain an organized and clean workspace. Conduct multipoint inspections (MPI), explain findings and necessary repairs to customers, and identify additional service opportunities based on vehicle inspection and customer needs. Promote and sell maintenance packages, extended warranties, and other dealership services. Collect customer signatures and payment on repair orders. Enter repair and test procedures/results using a computer at the dealership. Travel to off-site locations within a designated area in company assigned vehicles to complete mobile maintenance; locations may be at a residence or business. Follow all federal, state, and local regulations governing automotive service and repair, including Cal/OSHA. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures; including wearing protective gear and equipment as required. Maintain satisfactory attendance. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least one year of verifiable driving experience.
  • 1 year experience as an entry-level automotive technician, or 1 year of completed automotive hands-on course work.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California driver's license within 30 days following date of hire.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations that affect operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), a certified technical training program in automotive technology at a high school or at a community college, as the best preparation for entry-level positions.
  • Acquire and maintain manufacturer and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications by completing the necessary and required training.
