About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a Mobile Radar Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role involves designing the next generation of sensors to protect America and its allies, specifically performing mechanical design of the Affordable Long-range Persistent Surveillance-Mobile product. The engineer will utilize Solidworks CAD software and Windchill PLM software daily to develop designs, then collaborate with the production team to build hardware. Responsibilities also include assisting with hardware integration, installation, and working with the testing team to deploy the hardware. This is described as a fast-paced program with unique technical challenges, offering a rewarding milestone in an engineering career within a team of talented engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Strong SolidWorks user
  • Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Windchill PLM experience
  • Design and/or Integration experience in Power generation
  • Design and/or Integration experience in Tactical shelter design
  • Design and/or Integration experience in Telecommunication towers
  • Design and/or Integration experience in Mobile tactical equipment
  • Design and/or Integration experience in Tactical trailers

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design via Solidworks CAD software
  • Generate drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5
  • Produce technical data packages in accordance with MIL-STD-31000
  • Help integrate and install hardware
  • Work with the testing team to put hardware into action
