About The Position

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and mechanically inclined Mobile Preventative Maintenance Mechanic Trainee to perform on-site routine service and inspections on vehicles or equipment at various locations. This role ensures fleet reliability and safety by proactively servicing equipment on a scheduled basis, reducing downtime and preventing costly repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in automotive, diesel, or equipment maintenance preferred
  • Experience with tools, equipment or automotive/diesel maintenance
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands- on skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT medical card)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, and air systems
  • Proficient with mobile work orders and diagnostics tools
  • Basic tablet skills for logging work orders
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel with some overnight stays
  • Ability to perform physical tasks in various outdoor conditions
  • Comfortable working around grease, oil, dirt, and moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and climb in and around vehicles and equipment

Responsibilities

  • Travel to field locations to assist senior mobile mechanics with routine preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment (e.g., light and medium duty trucks, equipment, trailers, and other specialty equipment)
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and federal/state regulations, including DOT requirements
  • Conduct oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements
  • Conduct boom inspections
  • Ensure mobile service truck is clean, stocked, and in proper safe working condition
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members regarding service performed and follow-up needs
  • Perform DOT inspections
  • Adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies at all job sites
  • Interact professionally with customers, representing the company in a positive and reliable manner
  • Learn to identify early signs of wear, leaks, and mechanical issues before they become costly repairs
