About The Position

The Mobile Phlebotomist is responsible for providing clinical pre-analytical laboratory services in a mobile setting, primarily visiting nursing homes. Under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, the role involves collecting blood samples, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to all health and safety protocols while maintaining a clean work environment.

Requirements

• Valid State phlebotomy license (if required).
• Valid State Driver's license with car insurance and a good driving record.
• Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture techniques.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations and medical terminology.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicle to client facilities as directed by the dispatcher.
• Unload phlebotomy tray and collect samples at the patient's bedside.
• Accurately identify patients before specimen collection.
• Collect, label, process, and deliver specimens obtained from patients.
• Reload equipment and specimens for prompt delivery.
• Communicate regularly with the dispatcher regarding status and location.
• Adhere to Universal Precautions to control blood-borne pathogens.
• Maintain required certifications and health requirements.
• Keep work area clean and report unsafe conditions.
• Monitor supplies inventory and report low stock situations.
• Accurately maintain time records of hours worked.
• Manage assigned shift including meal breaks.
• Follow specimen preservation and management processes as written.
