About The Position

The MORES (Mobile Outreach, Response, Engagement, and Stabilization) Family Partner is a vital member of the multidisciplinary team, bringing lived experience as a caregiver of a child with mental health and/or substance use needs. This unique perspective enhances the team’s ability to engage families with empathy, authenticity, and credibility. The Family Partner provides emotional support, system navigation, advocacy, and coaching to caregivers throughout the crisis episode.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's licensed and reliable transportation to respond to crises in the community.
  • Current automobile insurance
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use.
  • Willingness to become a Certified Family Partner by engaging in specialized training within 12 months of employment.
  • Experience working with families of youth with mental health and/or substance use needs.
  • Must complete all agency and state-mandated training within required timeframes;
  • Must be able to attend orientation and ongoing required training within the required timeframe and follow Carolina Outreach’s policies and procedures;
  • Must use advanced knowledge acquired through professional training and experience to analyze, interpret, or make appropriate deductions from varying facts or circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Family support and advocacy: Provide emotional support, education, and advocacy to families and caregivers of youth experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises. Help families navigate the mental health and substance use treatment system and access appropriate services and resources.
  • Crisis intervention: Provide crisis intervention services to youth in crisis and their families. Work as part of a team to assess the individual's needs and develop a plan of care that includes immediate support and stabilization.
  • Communication and collaboration: Facilitate communication and collaboration between families, mental health and substance use treatment providers, schools, and other community stakeholders to ensure coordinated care and support for the youth in crisis and their families.
  • Education and outreach: Provide education and outreach to the community to raise awareness of mental health and substance use issues and promote prevention and early intervention.
