Why This Role We provide structured, hands-on training from day one Your mechanical aptitude becomes a meaningful healthcare career Work independently in a mobile repair truck while collaborating with hospital teams Service Territory and Travel Hospital-based service from a mobile repair unit Coverage area: Salt Lake City, UT; Jackson, WY; and Idaho Falls, ID Travel approximately 3 nights per month; all travel expenses covered Daily operation of a company vehicle

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of work experience with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 1 year at STERIS; all experience must be verifiable
  • Technical/mechanical certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may count toward the requirement
  • 21+ years of age and able to meet FMCSA and driver’s license requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (CDL not required) and ability to maintain required vaccines
  • Proficient in service orientation and maintenance/repair skills
  • Background Check If offered this position, STERIS will run a 7 year driving record check, as part of our onboarding process.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, and refurbish surgical instruments at basic to intermediate levels
  • Perform ultrasonic function checks; consider metallurgy and material integrity
  • Buffing and polishing; bending, shaping, and sharpening
  • Repair hinge points and serrations; perform brazing as needed
  • Work primarily inside a mobile truck with frequent trips into the hospital
