About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic provides daily maintenance support to the plant operations on mobile equipment, including on-highway trucks and trailers, off-road heavy equipment and light vehicles. Responsible for services & repairs on company vehicles from light vehicles to heavy mining equipment. Performs on-going preventative maintenance program for vehicles, analyzes and identifies sources of mechanical failures and repairs. Predicts potential failures to vehicles based on historical and operating data, monitors and maintains fluid levels for vehicles, storage tanks and containers, and assists with major repairs as needed. Possesses his/her own tools, a valid driver's license, and basic computer skills.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment troubleshooting repair experience required.
• Caterpillar and Komatsu equipment troubleshooting and repair preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to read manuals and follow SOPs.
• Your own set of tools to perform the required tasks.
• A valid driver's license is required; a CDL is a bonus.
• Capability to lift and handle up to 75 lbs.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment background check, drug screening and medical exam.

Nice To Haves

• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performing regular maintenance and repairs on equipment like haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and concrete trucks.
• Conducting preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and overhauls to predict and address mechanical issues.
• Operating heavy machinery as needed, such as front-end loaders, forklifts, and bobcats.
• Maintaining detailed service records and adhering to all safety protocols.
