Job Summary The driver is responsible for operating and transporting the Mobile Health Unit (MHU) van for the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities (IHCD) Service, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of people, equipment, and supplies to scheduled event sites serving MHU‑supported populations and other company locations, including regional sites. The driver will support outreach events by assisting with event setup, greeting participants, providing basic information, and helping manage participant flow. Additional responsibilities may include completing transportation‑related tasks, parking or retrieving vehicles from designated locations within or outside Manhattan and performing site‑specific vehicle maintenance as assigned.

Requirements

  • Up to two (2) years of professional driving experience for a company or organization.
  • Ability to navigate basic internet functions and use email.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Class C Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement.
  • Defensive Driving Training.
  • Current Medical Examiner's Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and drives the Mobile Health Unit to scheduled single‑day event sites within and outside the New York metropolitan area.
  • Provides safe and efficient transportation of staff, physicians, supplies, specimens, equipment, pharmacy materials, instruments, educational materials, PPE, and patient records between company locations or other designated sites.
  • Retrieves and returns company vehicles to and from designated areas on scheduled workdays.
  • Follows all regulations related to transporting materials and ensures completion of required documentation, including chain of custody, cleaning logs, and bills of lading.
  • Greets participants and community members in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Assists staff with setup and breakdown of tables, equipment, and materials at single‑day event sites.
  • Helps direct participant flow to support efficient delivery of services.
  • Observes participants and helps with boarding and disembarking, including offering physical support and helping with wheelchairs when needed.
  • Provides internal delivery of medical supplies, instruments, equipment, IT materials, specimens, and blood samples for single‑day events.
  • Retrieves items from staging areas and delivers them to designated locations.
  • Completes specimen logs and required departmental or regulatory transport documentation.
  • Walks materials or specimens to nearby buildings when needed, including during inclement weather.
  • Conducts pre‑trip vehicle inspections, including checking fuel levels, fluids, lights, signals, engine sounds, and overall vehicle cleanliness.
  • Sanitizes high‑touch vehicle surfaces throughout the day.
  • Refuel vehicles and ensure adequate fuel levels are maintained.
  • Reports vehicle irregularities or unusual sounds to the lead supervisor immediately.
  • Adheres to assigned vehicle operation schedules as directed by departmental leadership.
  • Monitors refrigerator temperatures and documents readings in logbooks when assigned.
  • Stocks designated areas with appropriate medical and facility‑related supplies.
  • Removes waste from designated trash and chemo bins.
  • Performs routine safety and equipment checks, including eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and vehicle fluids.
