Requirements

  • Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing malfunctions and determine the necessary repairs for fire and emergency equipment. This includes, but is not limited to the chassis, body, water pumps, electrical components, and engines.
  • Operate and inspect this equipment and evaluate the best course of action to return the apparatus to a safe operating condition
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using their own and company provided specialized tooling
  • Repair, rebuild, overhaul, and replace defective assemblies and components such as gauges, air fittings, plumbing lines and valves, hydraulic lines, various pumps, and basic engine components
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency and safety prior to releasing the apparatus for duty.
