About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for Mobile Equipment Operator at our Toledo, OH HBI plant. The Mobile Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various mobile equipment across the site on a rotating shift. This role will load HBI product to rail and trucks as required and remove material from the remet bunker to various locations on site, utilizing front end loaders. The operator will also utilize and maintain the cleanliness of other site equipment such as the water truck, street sweeper, skid steer and like as directed. This role interacts with the control room, maintenance, engineering, and contractors related to the effective operations of the site. Summary of Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to safety standards and maintain equipment and surrounding areas in good condition to sustain uninterrupted operation. Operate various pieces of mobile equipment including but not limited to - front end loaders, skid steer, forklifts, water truck, street sweeper. Conduct routine inspections including but not limited to cleaning, lubricating, and performing regular safety checks, to identify needed maintenance or repairs. Recognize upset conditions, and take the appropriate corrective action. Identify operating irregularities, troubleshoot, and correct equipment performance or sufficiently relay details to craft, control room, and supervisory personnel. Perform safe isolation of operating equipment from energy sources such that maintenance activities can take place. Assist Operators and Mechanical, Electrical maintenance personnel where required. Accurately follow procedures and provide timely feedback of conditions to supervisor. Inspect and fuel vehicle, monitor gauges and other indicators to ensure safe operation. Provide written and/or verbal turnover information to oncoming crew members. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years related experience as an equipment operator in an industrial environment.
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Positive, high energy, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to multitask, perform under stressful conditions, and respond and adapt in changing conditions.
  • Hearing, seeing (acuity, near, far, and depth), talking, sitting, standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs), climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, and wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Routinely exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt, and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather.
  • Availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis, and the ability to work at the assigned job site.
  • Willing to work shift work and assist in other areas of department or site as needed.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year degree from an accredited vocational/technical school preferred.
  • Skid steer, front end loader, forklift operational knowledge preferred.
