About The Position

The Mobile Equipment Operator is responsible for various tasks related to the operation of equipment in a mill environment. This includes loading logs into the mill for daily production needs, preparing vats for the following week's production, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The operator must be knowledgeable in the safe operation of a loader and be able to monitor machine functions and communicate issues effectively. The role requires adaptability and prioritization of tasks throughout the shift, as well as a commitment to safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• Ability to read, write, and use basic arithmetic.
• Heavy Equipment experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate a loader.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating instructions.
• Ability to prioritize needs of the shift.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Ability to communicate with others.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to read a tape measure.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of log species.

Responsibilities

• Load logs into the mill for daily production needs.
• Load vats for the following week's production.
• Empty log end boxes.
• Grind log ends as needed using grinding equipment.
• Empty core bunks regularly.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Monitor machine function and controls.
• Communicate issues to Team Leader and Maintenance.
• Support and follow standardized work.
• Be willing to be cross-trained in various departmental positions.
• Adapt and prioritize needs throughout the shift.
• Maintain good attendance.
• Determine proper safety procedures (LOTO, JSA, REACH).
