About The Position

Mark43 is seeking a Mobile Engineering Intern with a focus on Android development to join their Engineering team. The intern will contribute to building mobile applications used daily by first responders, working on real production features and learning modern Android development practices alongside experienced engineers. This is a paid summer internship program for bright and ambitious engineering students, primarily those graduating in Spring/Summer of 2027 or who have recently graduated. The program will run from June 9th, 2026 - August 14th, 2026. Interns will be based in the Boston, MA and New York City offices, allowing for hands-on mentorship throughout the program. Mark43's mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all, building powerful, scalable, and elegant software for first responders. Requirements

  • Experience building Android applications through coursework, internships, or personal projects
  • Experience developing Android applications using Kotlin
  • A personal, academic, or internship project that demonstrates mobile development skills
  • Familiarity with core internet technologies such as REST, JSON, and HTTP
  • Basic understanding of mobile architecture and application lifecycle concepts
  • A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms

  • Built new Android features using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks
  • Collaborated with product managers and designers to deliver intuitive, reliable mobile experiences

  • Wrote and maintained unit tests to ensure high-quality releases
  • Contributed to discussions around mobile architecture and best practices
  • Gained exposure to how mobile applications integrate with a larger backend system
