About The Position

The Mobile Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining company vehicles, sanitation equipment, trailers, and related operational equipment in the field. This position provides on-site mechanical support to multiple branch locations and is critical to minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining safe, reliable operations. This role requires travel between service areas, strong troubleshooting ability, and the flexibility to respond to urgent equipment failures outside of normal business hours as part of an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of mechanical repair experience
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to operate diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • Strong time management and independent work skills
  • Ability to travel regularly between assigned service territories

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on pump trucks, sanitation equipment, trailers, or heavy fleet vehicles preferred
  • Welding or fabrication experience preferred
  • DOT and fleet compliance knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Fleet & Equipment Maintenance: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues on company vehicles and equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on fleet vehicles, pump trucks, trailers, generators, and sanitation equipment
  • Repair or replace, hydraulic systems, brakes, suspension components, Tires, and electrical systems
  • Conduct mobile service calls at branch locations, customer sites, and roadside repair situations
  • Perform inspections to ensure equipment meets company safety and operational standards
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Mobile Field Service: Travel between Killeen, Luling, and Round Rock service areas
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair needs
  • Maintain service truck inventory, tools, and repair parts
  • Document repairs, maintenance work, and service reports accurately
  • Communicate repair timelines and equipment status to operations and management teams
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency equipment or vehicle repairs
  • Respond to after-hours service calls when assigned
  • Provide support during storm response, emergency operations, or high-demand periods
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow company safety policies, OSHA standards, and DOT compliance requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment both in shop and field settings
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of service vehicle and equipment
