You’ll work on a mobile crisis team providing immediate, face-to-face or telehealth interventions, coordinate with community partners and law enforcement, and use clinical judgment to de-escalate situations and connect people to the right level of care. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or a related human service field
  • OR a minimum of a high school diploma or GED plus 5 years supervised clinical experience in mental health or human services
  • Illinois exception noted in original posting excluded (position location: Missouri)
  • Prior experience assessing and intervening in mental health crises, including suicidality assessment and safety planning
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, clinical judgment, and time-management abilities
  • Ability to establish rapport via telephone and face-to-face contacts and to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer/electronic medical record competency
  • Adaptability and initiative in dynamic situations
  • CPR/First Aid and CPI certification (current)
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance (required)
  • Successful completion of background checks (criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, fingerprint)
  • Sedentary work: may exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently; repetitive hand/finger movements for typing/writing
  • Primarily sitting but may involve walking or standing for brief periods; occasional lifting/moving as required

Responsibilities

  • Respond to on-call/mobile crisis requests and provide immediate, person-centered crisis intervention in the community or via telehealth/phone when requested by the client
  • Conduct thorough face-to-face crisis assessments, evaluate risk (including suicidality), and develop safety plans with individuals and families
  • Coordinate and facilitate access to appropriate crisis services, including arranging hospitalizations or referrals to community resources when needed
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, internal teams, and external partners to ensure safe, least-restrictive outcomes for individuals served
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in electronic medical records to meet DMH, BBH, and other reporting/compliance requirements
  • Communicate with Crisis Team members for backup and resource coordination; escalate cases appropriately
  • Attend required trainings, supervision, conference calls, and meetings to maintain competencies and program compliance
