The Mobile Crisis Professional partners with the school district to provide short term services to stabilize the youth, assess for their individual needs, and connect them with identified supports, both formal and natural. In each case the Mobile Crisis Professional will assure that services to children and families are individualized, strengths and needs based, culturally sensitive and responsive, and goal driven. This position requires local travel and flexibility to work within the school day as well as a non-traditional schedule in a high-demand work situation.

Requirements

  • State Police; FBI clearance; child abuse clearance; CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training; any additional background checks/clearances required by state governing bodies.
  • Valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides proactive engagement to prevent escalation to students during the school day.
  • Provides crisis intervention, assessment, and diversion to students during the school day.
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation of behavior supports to students.
  • Maintains flexibility and creativity in working within the school day as well as a non-traditional schedule to accommodate the needs of youth and families.
  • Liaisons between the school and parents regarding needs of students; promotes positive relationships between parents and school.
  • Works as a team with school personnel, youth, families, child-serving agencies, and community partners.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with the school district, youth, family, internal and external stakeholders, program team members, leadership, and organizational support staff.
  • Receives supervision from and actively communicates with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
  • Attends and participates in all required trainings and other professional trainings to include, but not limited to Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Addictions 101, Supported Education, Supported Employment, QPR, YMHFA and SOGIE trainings.
  • Provides advocacy for youth and families in working with the System of Care (SOC).
