About The Position

This position offers a $2,000 (1 year stay-on agreement) or 4,000 (2 year stay-on agreement) Sign On Bonus with the agency! This bonus will be provided upon completion of a probationary period. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of Families Forward Crisis Services Coordinator or Supervisor, staff serves as a master’s level professional clinician performing crisis intervention services, screenings for psychiatric hospitalizations and intake assessments primarily for youth and their families in the office, emergency rooms, home, and other community locations. Will provide mobile crisis intervention as a team in the community with schools, police officers and other community providers for behavioral health stabilization. Recommends referrals to various Families forward programs, program components and other services in the community. Consults with service providers. Responsible for case documentation. Assess strengths by interviewing and observing consumers and their families. In conjunction with family formulate a disposition. Include extensive safety planning. Answers the crisis line and provides verbal de-escalation and triage over phone. Will occasionally see adults for crisis intervention and prescreens. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/ sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA’S mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is required.
  • Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required.
  • One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) in the examination, evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families required.
  • One year of post Master’s experience with minors with SED and families within the past 6 years.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally is required.
  • Candidate must be able to work well with others.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and aces to reliable means of transportation for job related use is required.
  • Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, undergo and pass a Central Registry Screening, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
