Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health field.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health disorders with previous experience in crisis intervention, emergency mental health services, and trauma-informed care is strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience working with a wide range of behavioral health disorders.
  • Ability to present problems and communicate effectively with collateral organizations working with the individual and/or the family.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage empathetically with clients in crisis.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make rapid clinical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Must have an MHP certificate.
  • Valid professional licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.) is preferred or must be working towards licensure with supervision.
  • Must be able to obtain a WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor credential within the first 60 days of hire.
  • Must have a Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crisis situations promptly, conducting comprehensive assessments to determine the individual's needs and risk factors.
  • Provide immediate therapeutic support to stabilize individuals in crisis, employing evidence-based crisis intervention techniques.
  • Relate to others professionally, respecting individual and cultural differences.
  • Develop and implement safety plans for clients, including immediate interventions and referrals for follow-up support services.
  • Work closely with law enforcement, emergency medical services, and other community resources to coordinate effective responses to crises.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assessments, interventions, and follow-up plans in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate health care behavioral health and social service agencies to ensure ongoing support for client's post-crisis.
  • Participate in community outreach programs aimed at raising awareness of behavioral health issues and available resources.
  • Provide training and mentorship to interns, volunteers, or new staff in crisis intervention techniques and protocols as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
