About The Position

Gulfport Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility): Gulfport Behavioral Health System, is a 92-bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services. For more information, please visit us at www.gulfportbehavioral.com/ Position Summary: Join the Marketing team where the Mobile Assessor provides risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Mobile Assessor also assists the Physician determine appropriate admission criteria by providing face to face clinical assessments, including the history of presenting illness, family dynamics and supporting psychosocial information. This position includes involves travel and occaisional evening/weekend work. Qualified applicants will: Accurately assess patients for level of care determinations. Possess excellent de-escalation skills. Have a working knowledge of available resources for patients (inpatient, outpatient, child/adolescent, adult, and military). Work well with families in helping them understand treatment options. Demonstrate excellent communication skills in working with hospital staff, patients, families, law enforcement and referral agencies. Display strong critical thinking skills to be able to manage complex psychiatric cases as they arise.

Requirements

  • Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Counseling, Social Work, or a clinical related mental health field; or Registered Nurse.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience in behavioral health with stong assessment skills.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi as an RN, LMSW, LCSW, LPC or clinical related mental health field preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: K nowledge of the DSM-IVR and the Mental Status Exam.
  • A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field.
  • Certification in CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
  • Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation.

  • Crisis intervention experience preferred.
