About The Position
KKTV has an immediate opening for a full-time MMJ/Reporter. Successful candidates must be team players with a great attitude and bring professionalism, personality, energy, and confidence to our newscasts. This person is a strong writer who has the ability to tell memorable stories and demonstrate strong news judgment. Duties of this job include live reporting, creative shooting, writing, editing, and posting of news stories. Must have good writing skills and must be able to work well under strict deadline pressure. The deadline to apply for this position is 01/31/2026 .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or substantial previous work experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent news writing and visual storytelling ability
- Familiarity with digital video cameras, non-linear editing, and Social Media platforms
- Ability to lift 35-40lbs of gear
- The position requires a valid driver's license and a good driving record
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of previous journalism experience, preferred
Responsibilities
- Gather, write, and present news reports for various newscasts, including various digital platforms
- Shoot and edit video and interviews
- Contribute pictures, videos, and text updates to mobile platforms consistently throughout the day, both in the field and at the station
- Develop a network of sources
- Participate in the story selection process through meetings, and contribute story ideas daily
- Shoot independent live shots
- Other duties as assigned by news leadership
- The ideal candidate will also be able to work with our digital news platforms
