About the position

Victim Advocate will provide compassionate support and advocacy for MMIP victims of crimes & families of missing persons.

Responsibilities

  • Educate the community on MMIP violent/victim crimes
  • Aid victims in areas of crisis intervention, support, education/prevention, treatment, and referrals
  • Conduct victim assistance workshops, seminars, presentations, and meetings with law enforcement personnel, investigative agency victim specialists, federal, state, tribal, and local officials, and members of the community
  • Generates victim crime statistics and data collection on MMIP
  • Generates victim-related statistical and activity reports from Tribal, State, and Federal agencies
  • Promotes cultural oriented preventative measures of MMIP
  • Transport victims to shelters, rehabilitation, mental health services, social services, tribal & county court or victim services related location
  • Provides the community with emergency responses for missing persons
  • Administrative and grants duties as needed
  • Purchase necessities for victims of crime and families of missing persons
  • Assist victims of crime and families of missing persons with necessary application process with CN MMIP victim services or any victim services program related
  • Maintain confidentiality of the victim and family of the missing person
  • Provide emotional support to victims of crime & families of missing persons
  • Familiar with tribal, state and federal laws
  • Attend Office of Victims of Crimes yearly training
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, Criminal Justice or related field
  • 4 years' work experience in victim services or related field
  • Possess knowledge of victim assistance including applicable standards, tribal, federal & tribal laws, regulations and codes
  • Possess basic skills in the use of Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
  • Must be willing to submit and pass drug testing
  • Must be willing to submit a background check
