About The Position

Position Overview: Assists overseas and coordinates the efficient responsibilities of employees engaged in packaging of finished products. This person must have good people skills, some mechanical ability, good math skills, able to make decisions and solve problems and conflicts as needed. Capability to fill in as needed.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adheres to all company safety policies.
  • Previous or proven leadership skills.

  • Forklift and other material handling equipment trained.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with Supervisor, oversees and directs employees as needed to maintain or improve safety throughput, product quality and facility appearance.
  • Must have the ability to set up, operate, clean and do preventative maintenance on all packaging equipment. This includes but is not limited to wrapping equipment, bagging equipment, Sweco sifters, grinders, augers, metal detectors, case sealers, etc.
  • Assists the operators of each piece of equipment above in the operation, adjustment and troubleshooting of same as needed.
  • Must be prepared to step in any position due to absences, vacation, etc.
  • Must be able to identify quality issues with product and packaging and report same to Supervisor and Q/A.
  • In conjunction with Q/A, must have the ability to conduct/record/maintain/report routine quality control checks as required (Color, moisture, piece specs., metal detector findings, finished package appearance, etc.)
  • Oversees the proper training of new employees and responsible for updated progress reports to management relative to these new employees.
  • Oversees the sanitation of facility and helps direct weekly clean-ups in conjunction with Supervisor and Master Sanitation Schedule. Production schedule will certainly play into proper sanitation of each line also. Must also be responsible for all paperwork associated with these clean-ups.
  • Must be self-motivated and show initiative, must have good organizational skills, needs to be able to lead, motivate fellow employees to meet desired goals in safety, packaging, waste control, quality control, throughput and sanitation.
  • Must be able to step in in absence of supervisor including daily paperwork, schedule employees and make appropriate time clock changes.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by Supervisor and/or Management.
