About The Position

The M.L.T./Laboratory Technologist - Regional Float performs the same duties as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Lab Technician (LT). This individual performs in-vitro analysis of biologic specimens according to established procedures for routine and specialized areas of the Laboratory. This individual also participates in supportive functions including but not limited to quality control, instrument operation, troubleshooting, teaching/training and problem resolution. M.L.T./ Laboratory Technologist - Regional Float is part of the float pool that support the Region or system where coverage is assigned on an as-needed basis.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (i.e., Military trained – Medical Lab Specialist certificate of training obtained prior to April 24, 1995).
• Certification or eligibility for certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or (AMT) American Medical Technologist.
• Certification is required within 6 months of hire.
• Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Laboratory Technician student internship highly recommended.
• Previous laboratory experience is recommended.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Participates in supportive functions including but not limited to quality control, instrument operation, troubleshooting, teaching/training and problem resolution.
• Supports the Region or system where coverage is assigned on an as-needed basis.

• Positions listed as 30 hours per week or greater are offered the level 1 benefit package.
• Positions listed as 20 – 29 hours per week are offered the level 2 benefit package.
• Positions listed as less than 19 hours per week are non-benefited.
