About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) position at Monument Health involves providing essential laboratory services to support patient care. Requirements

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field, or high school graduate with military medical laboratory training.
• Certification as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) from ASCP, AMT, or as a Military Laboratory Specialist.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences or Clinical Laboratory Science.
• Preferred: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
• 1+ years of laboratory experience.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare biological specimens for analyses using appropriate techniques.
• Determine acceptability of specimens within established guidelines.
• Perform all applicable testing with quality, speed, and accuracy according to established protocols.
• Evaluate specimen integrity and ascertain suitability for testing.
• Report test results in a timely manner meeting the expectations of physicians.
• Organize department workload for maximum efficiency.
• Evaluate and interpret test results according to individual test specifications.
• Ensure initial calibration and standardization of equipment.
• Answer telephone promptly and courteously, directing calls to appropriate sections.
• Ensure smooth transition of duties within current and oncoming shifts.
• Instruct other staff and students as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
