Job Description Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Demonstrates flexibility and reliability as a designated float Medical Laboratory Technician as rotations are needed. Provides coverage in designated facility for pre-determined scheduled time as applicable. Provides support according to assigned schedule and service plan content delegated by laboratory staff and leadership at assigned location. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible.
  • Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid driver's license required.
