About The Position

As a Medical Lab Technician III (MLT III) at BJC HealthCare, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing specimen processing and routine/complex testing on blood and other specimens. This position requires a strong understanding of quality control, instrument maintenance, and laboratory methodologies, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory results that positively impact patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Physical/Life Science or related field
• 2-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting
• ASCP Certification or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and stats.
• Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
• Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, and test analysis.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems or reports any problems to the appropriate department.
• Assesses technical and/or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluates possible solutions, and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
• Trains new personnel in methods, procedures, and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
