This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the Blue Moon MK2 Crew Lander Structures team as Manager of the Structural Analysis team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to manage a team to deliver a MK2 Crew Lander primary structure. The Manager is accountable for leading a team to deliver the structural analysis methods, tools, sizing, analysis reports, and qualification plans. The Manager will manage the day-to-day efforts as well as career development of a talented group of professionals to deliver for our customers. Requirements

  • Experience in leading and mentoring technical teams and functional groups, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a commitment to employee development.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the full lifecycle development of aerospace structures, including experience in requirement definition, structural analysis, and structural verification and validation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with internal loads development, structural verification planning and execution for composite and/or metallic aircraft or spacecraft vehicle structures.
  • Experience managing suppliers/subcontracts.
  • Resource management experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, including managing staffing, budget, and schedule.
  • Familiarity with agile project management.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements. management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in engineering or another technical field

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of structural analysts to deliver analysis models, structural substantiation reports, structural verification plans, and fracture control plans to satisfy mission objectives while balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Manage your direct reports' professional development (e.g., performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on performance to provide the analytical competency required by the MK2 Crew Lander Structures team.
  • Provide technical leadership to the MK2 Crew Lander Structures team guiding both the design, analysis, and test approaches for vehicle structures.
  • Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a team.
